A Word From Jeff

I’m honored to be chosen to represent District 8 and proud to fight for our neighborhood.

Together, we are tackling the issues that are facing our community in District 8 and all of San Francisco. We are helping get homeless kids off the streets and to build a better life. We are helping public school teachers stay in the city by creating more workforce housing and housing for low-income families. We are helping to keep our parks safe and clean. We are working to improve community policing and reduce crime in our neighborhoods.

Most importantly, we stand together to resist Donald Trump – making sure immigrants in our community are safe, our Muslim brothers and sisters aren’t persecuted, our healthcare access is preserved, women’s rights are protected and the civil rights of everyone in our society are secured.

We’ve got a lot of work to do together, but I know we can make a difference. Join me by signing up for our email list below or following me on Facebook.

About Supervisor Sheehy

San Francisco District 8 Supervisor Jeff Sheehy and his family

Jeff Sheehy was appointed District 8 Supervisor by Mayor Edwin Lee on January 6, 2017. He was appointed to fill the seat vacated when Scott Wiener was elected to the California State Senate.

Jeff is a long-time HIV/AIDS activist and pioneer for LGBT equality who has dedicated his life to public and community service. As former President of the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, as former Mayor Newsom’s HIV/AIDS advisor, and as a victims’ advocate in the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, Jeff Sheehy has spent his career fighting to protect vulnerable communities.

Before joining the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Jeff led communications at UCSF’s AIDS Research Institute, educating the public about UCSF’s cutting-edge research. Jeff is the first person openly living with HIV to serve on the Board of Supervisors.

A pioneer in the LGBT equal rights movement, District 8 Supervisor Jeff Sheehy helped create and pass San Francisco’s historic Equal Benefits Ordinance, making San Francisco the first city in the U.S. to require that all businesses and organizations seeking city contracts offer domestic partner benefits.

Jeff is a longtime Glen Park resident and neighborhood activist, where he lives with his husband Bill Berry and their daughter Michelle, who attends San Francisco public schools.
